Water Treatment Operator

Position: Water Treatment Operator
Reports to: Water Treatment Supervisor
Summary ofPosition
Water Treatment Operators are responsible for operation,maintenance, and reporting associated with the water treatment plant andassociated infrastructure. The operator must maximize water production whilemaintaining the water treatment facility. Adherence to sampling and reportingprocedures along with daily reporting are essential to job. Water TreatmentOperators must be self-motivated as they are required to work withoutsupervision at times.
Daily inspections: Finding and correcting anysafety hazards, Checking working conditions and making repairs of watertreatment plant and surrounding area
Completing and distributing daily log and pass-down:Taking water quality readings for plant and ponds, Taking pond level andseepage readings, Completing excel sheet, Completing daily pass-down sheet
Operate the Water Truck: Deliver water to thefire pond, Use the Water Truck for Dust Suppression
Monitoring plant performance and operationalsettings as required
Troubleshooting and fixing problems with theplant: Cleaning/changing filters, Fixing leaking plumbing, Changing water pumps,Maintaining chemical pumps, Preventative maintenance, Adjusting set points forproper plant performance
Troubleshooting and fixing problems with theponds and piping associated with the Water Treatment Plant: Fixing leakingconnections, Troubleshoot pump issues, Maintenance and insulation of pipes, Maintenanceof ponds and surrounding areas
Expected to work in a safe and efficientmanner
Experience andTraining
Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel,and Word)
Equipment Operation (Forklift, Water Truck)
Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skillsrequired. This includes pipe work, pumps, valves, diagnosing problems plumbingissues, etc.
Basic Chemistry and chemical handling required
Self-motivation and the ability to self-diagnoseand repair problems required.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to successfully work with littlesupervision required
Work Environment
Operators will work both indoors and outdoors. Their workis physically demanding and can be performed in areas with difficult access oropen water. Operators will be exposed to hazardous chemicals on a daily basis.Operators will be exposed to mine waste water and unpleasant odors. AppropriatePPE must be worn for the current work environment.
Wear appropriate PPE at all times while in productionenvironment. Be alert and observe,correct and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatoryrequirements. Assure that appropriatetask training has been completed and documented for all equipment, vehicles andsystems.
Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee frequentlywalking, standing, bending (neck & waist), and twisting (neck & waist),and occasionally squatting, climbing and kneeling. Occasional lifting up to 75+ pounds.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
